Meet Guide Brad Bugica

Captain Brad Bugica has dedicated his life to the craft of fishing, developing his skills from a young age and turning an early passion into a full-time profession. He first earned his California guide license in 1992 and officially stepped into guiding full time by 2006. Since then, Brad has built a reputation for a deep understanding of Western fishing waters and for delivering reliable, educational experiences. His approach is hands-on and detail-oriented, whether introducing newcomers to the sport or helping seasoned anglers refine their techniques.

With decades of experience behind him, Brad specializes in targeting Lahontan Cutthroat Trout at Pyramid Lake, where his knowledge of seasonal fish behavior and lake conditions consistently guides successful outings. From October through June, he assists clients through fly fishing, light tackle, jigging, trolling, and drift fishing methods—all carefully adapted to suit the lake’s unique environment. Instruction is clear and practical, ensuring that each participant leaves the day with new insights and improved skills.

Beyond Pyramid Lake, Brad also guides outings on Lake Tahoe through his partner site, LakeTahoeFishingTrips.net, offering opportunities to target trout and salmon in an iconic alpine setting. Whether casting into the clear shallows of Tahoe or working the deeper zones of Pyramid Lake, he maintains a steadfast commitment to service, safety, and attention to detail. Every excursion is structured to provide a comfortable, informative environment where anglers can learn and succeed.

The Boat

To support these guided trips, Captain Brad operates a custom 25-foot River Wild Alumaweld boat, designed specifically for comfort and performance on large lakes. Built in 2014 and powered by a reliable 250HP Yamaha engine, the vessel reaches speeds up to 35 knots to ensure efficient travel on the water. The layout provides plenty of space for gear, casting, and relaxation, safely accommodating up to six guests for a stable and smooth day of fishing.
